You are invited to submit to Photo ‘16, a national juried fine art photography exhibit at Multiple Exposures Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA.
Juror: Sam Abell - Distinguished photographer, teacher, writer, lecturer and National Geographic documentary photographer.
Exhibit dates: October 18, 2016 - November 27, 2016. Awards and opening reception, Saturday, October, 29th, 2016, 2 - 4 pm.
All artists 18 years of age or older who work in traditional, digital, or alternative photographic processes are invited to submit. We cannot accept entries from outside the U.S.
Submission deadline: June 30, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EDT (will NOT be extended)

Framed work delivered to gallery: October 12 - 15, 2016

Juror: Sam Abell is one of America’s most influential documentary photographers. He is a gifted educator, an expressive artist, and a sensitive photographer who learned the art and craft from his father, Thad Abell, in their small home town of Sylvania, Ohio.
Sam received a B.A. from the University of Kentucky in 1969 and shortly after began a distinguished career as photographer with the National Geographic Society that would span more than three decades. Sam Abell’s photography and essays are widely published and include the highly regarded Eastman Kodak retrospective monograph “Stay This Moment: The Photographs of Sam Abell.”
Sam lives in Albemarle County, VA with his wife Denise and maintains an active career as photographer, writer, teacher, and lecturer.
Entry Fee: $35.00 for up to three (3) images
Awards: $500 (Juror’s Selection) and $250 (Gallery Selection)
Submission Instructions: Entries must be completed online here. Artists may submit up to three images, and are encouraged to include an artist bio of 200 words or less. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover or PayPal. There is no theme.
Images must be JPGs, sized at 1600 px on the long side, 300 ppi, and sRGB color space. No watermarked images will be considered.
Selection Results: All entrants will be notified of the selection results by e-mail on or before August 1, 2016.
Accepted Work Agreement: Accepted artists will be required to sign a Terms and Conditions agreement. Each artist will retain all copyrights to their images. Multiple Exposures Gallery reserves the right to reproduce selected images for media and publicity purposes and artist credit will be given with any use.
Display Requirements: Framed works are limited to a maximum of 24” on the long side. Larger work will not be hung. We reserve the right to reject any work of significantly lesser quality than submitted for jurying, or that is not printed, matted or framed to professional standards.
Delivery of Selected Work: All accepted work must arrive at Multiple Exposures Gallery, in ready-to-hang condition, between October 12-15, 2016, during the hours of 11am-5pm. Plexiglass, not regular glass, must be used for all shipped work. Do NOT ship your work using styrofoam “peanuts”or foam balls.
Pickup and Returns: Hand-delivered work must be picked up at Multiple Exposures Gallery on Monday, November 28th, between 11am - 5pm Shipped work will be returned to the artist in early December. Multiple Exposures will use reasonable care in the handling, storage and exhibition of all artwork, but we do not assume any liability for damage that may occur.
Exhibition Sales: All work must be for sale. Multiple Exposures Gallery will retain a 25% commission from any photograph sold. Payment will be mailed to artists within 30 days of the close of the exhibit.
