Statement

In the summer of 1957, the employees of the Klotz Silk Mill went home on a Friday afternoon and upon returning on Monday morning, fully expecting to go to work, they found the doors had been permanently chained shut. The building, and everything inside, including personal belongings, had been sold. New management was never able to revive the factory so it is essentially a 48,000 square foot time warp.

I have had the privilege of photographing there on 2 occasions and am most grateful to Herb Crawford, the current owner, for opening the doors for photographers and historians.
