Statement
Music and architecture have been linked for generations. Renaissance architect Leon Alberti said that the “same characteristics that please the eye also please the ear.”
I was motivated to make these photographs because of the subtle, but obvious relationship between the art of music and the art of architecture. For me, photography enables us to “see” the music represented by the architecture. Many of the terms that describe one art, describe the other - rhythm, proportion, harmony, textures, tones, shapes, and repetition. In these photographs I see the flowing notes, the strong dynamics or subtleties of melody, and in some cases the sensuality of sight and sound. It is the interplay and juxtaposition of one architect’s creation with many others, and how these parts come together to create the composition of the entire scene.
Print Information
My photographs are available as individually signed, fine art prints in various sizes. Each photograph is personally printed by me using archival, pigmented inks, on paper chosen for its archival properties as well as its ability to enhance the aesthetic quality of the photograph. A Certificate of Authenticity, providing all relevant information about the photograph, the materials used and the artist accompanies each print.
I am able to meet the needs of the photography collector as well as art consultants, who might be seeking very large prints for a corporate boardroom, a non-profit organization or the health care industry.
