BEST OF 2022 | Juror: E.E. McCollum | January 31 - March 12, 2023

In 2022, Multiple Exposures Gallery presents 9 new photography exhibitions – 4 solo exhibitions by photographers Tim Hyde, Matt Leedham, Van Pulley, and Tom Sliter, and 5 group shows, each featuring the work of up to 14 different photographers.

As we turned the corner into 2023, we asked noted photographer and art writer E.E. McCollum to jury a new show for us based on the images he most responded to from the 2022 group exhibitions. Of the 126 possibilities McCollum considered, he selected eight for the BEST OF exhibition.

Bad Habits — Fran Livaditis
Birds on Wire — Eric T. Johnson
The Doctor’s Hen — Fred Zafran
Hard Rock Cafe”— Eric T. Johnson
Silver Mist — Soomin Ham
Sighting — Fred Zafran
Yoga — Maureen Minehan

“Trying to pick the eight best photographs from the work of the rich and varied photographic visions of Multiple Exposures Gallery members proved challenging, to say the least. I easily could have chosen five times that number,” McCollum said in his juror’s statement for the exhibition. “I tried to choose images that satisfied my eye and that at least hinted at the diversity of views among MEG members. Some were whimsical (Maureen Minehan’s Yoga and Fran Livaditis’ Bad Habits) while others spoke of an ephemeral world (Soomin Ham’s Silver Mist and Fred Zafran’s Sighting). I couldn't look away from the young woman in Eric T. Johnson’s Hard Rock Cafe who seemed to have spotted Johnson just as he released the shutter. It was a pleasure to see the work of these talented photographers.”
