About Alistair Corden

Alistair was born in England and went to school in Cambridge - the ancient seat of higher learning, which unfortunately did not rub off on him.  Eschewing a university education, he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a pilot in the Royal Air Force.  A decade later, having traveled the world and flown some quite outstanding aeroplanes, early retirement found him literally at sea as a Hydrographic Surveyor, working in the North Sea, then Alaska, the West Coast, Gulf of Mexico and Ecuador having moved to Houston, TX.

Economic woes saw the collapse of the oil sector, so time for a new career.  Two decades later, he took early retirement (again) from commercial aviation where he had flown as a Line Captain and trained new pilots.

For the last decade or so he has been fully engaged in photography, a lifetime hobby that could now be seriously explored.  Initially film cameras and the darkroom, then digital became the shiny new future.  Travel for landscapes in the US and the Isle of Skye (home) occupied the first few years, but then an interest in alternative printing processes began to make more sense for the final step before an image hung on the wall.

Platinum/Palladium printing (an ancient art, now highly refined) and Piezography, a total monochrome process are his printers of choice.

He continues to travel and photograph, always looking for the next rabbit hole to explore.
